Are You Afraid to Love?

Don’t be afraid to show someone some love today…and everyday. Our world could always use more love.

Love is an emotion that should be freely shared. Whether our love is for a spouse, a child, or a dear friend, we should openly show the people who we care about that they are precious in our lives and that we love them for who they are and the wonderful addition they make to our lives. We should never hold back our love, just as God never holds back His love from us. Life is precious and we should show people as much love as possible. The time we have with our loved ones is limited in this life, therefore, we should take every opportunity to share our love.

1 Corinthians 16:14: “Let all that you do be done in love.”

Who Can You Trust?

Hope Seekers - Seeking God's Hope in All Things

do you trust god

Let’s be honest: people can be a huge disappointment. We rely on other people so much and, when they don’t follow through, we are often hung out to dry. Many say “if you want something done right, do it yourself”. Most of you have experienced moments that have given merit to that saying. Luckily, there is another option. We have the pleasure of following a God who will never let us down. There is no catch. His grace and love have been freely given to us. God is reliable, honest, loving, loyal, and encouraging – everything we look for in a leader, teacher, and friend. We may be disappointed by our friends and family because they are not perfect and they make mistakes but God is perfect. He doesn’t make mistakes. We can completely trust Him.

Do You Dare to Dream?

God’s plan for your future is magnificent! Pray for guidance, listen up, and put His plan into action and watch the opportunities and possibilities begin to unfold.

God-sized-dream-team

Whether we act on them or not, we all have dreams for our lives. These could be dreams for our career or building a family or traveling the world. Some people are determined to make their dreams become their reality, while others think of their dreams as a mirage in the distance that is a nice thought but unattainable. God wants us to believe in our dreams and strive toward them. God wants us to have faith that our dreams CAN become a reality. We have to have faith that God will give us the desires of our heart if we ask Him. We have to show God that we want to be blessed and that we are going to dream big because we can do all things through Christ who strengths us. There is no limit to where God can take us in this life.

Are You Discouraged?

Hope Seekers - Seeking God's Hope in All Things

stress girl

“When It Rains, It Pours.” There will be times in our lives when we feel like way too many negative things are happening all at once and we can’t seem to fix one issue before another one pops up. It can be extremely discouraging to feel like we can’t seem to get on top of the problems. While we know that God will help us and that the trial is only for a moment in the large scheme of things, it is still a source of frustration and discouragement. Anyone who says that they don’t get discouraged at some point when something is going wrong is absolutely kidding themselves. No matter how much we pray and rely on God for hope and support, there are times when we lose track of God and let doubt sneak in, even if just for a moment. The trick is to not allow ourselves…

Are You Good at Praying?

Asking for God’s help is only one small part of praying. Take a lesson from Jesus: Prayer 101.

Hope Seekers - Seeking God's Hope in All Things

Praying can sometimes be intimidating, especially when praying in a group, but don’t get discouraged. There isn’t a wrong way or a right way to praying. When we pray, we are speaking directly to God and He hears our prayers. There are different kinds of praying: some people sound like they took years of praying lessons because their words roll off their tongue effortlessly and with such eloquence, while others pray to God as if they were talking to a dear friend and have less refinement to their words. Regardless of how we pray, we have to be honest when we pray, not only with God but also the other people with whom we pray. Prayer is not supposed to be a spectacle. Prayer isn’t supposed to be used to make other people notice us. Prayer is an opportunity to come before the Lord, humbled and thankful.

Are You Brave Enough?

In rememberance of the events of 9/11, I am posting this devotional on bravery. We need to remember to always be brave. Bravery helps to save others; bravery helps to save ourselves. Bravery is a state of mind that goes hand in hand with faith. Bravery is being able to live one moment at a time not knowing the end result because faith propels us to persevere. Thank you, Lord, for showing us that our bravery is never in vain because you are always faithful.

Skyfire 21

Life throws us curve balls and we have to figure out within ourselves if we are brave enough to persevere. We have to be brave in order to withstand the trials we encounter. By believing in the God’s power and having faith, we can fully embrace the trials and see that God gives us the strength and wisdom to make it through anything. We are not victims. We are champions because God is our champion. Even if we begin to feel defeated, the Lord reassures us. Our bravery is found in the Lord.

Psalm 23:4: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

God commands us to be strong and courageous. We have nothing to fear because we have God walking with us, side by side, through…

How Can You Hold Onto Hope?

Hope Seekers - Seeking God's Hope in All Things

When trouble comes our way, our first response usually is a bit of panic. We have to figure out how to overcome the obstacle as quickly as possible because we know that, if we wait, the problem will most likely get worse. The beauty is that we are not alone in coming up with a solution. God has given us hope in all trials so we can see beyond the problem to the inevitable resolution. We have hope because we have put our trust in God and we know that He will lead us through it all.

Romans 12:12: “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”

God has given us His Word to show us how to handle life and be successful. The Bible says that we should rejoice when we are dealing with a trial. Most people would say this concept is completely crazy to…

Can You Break Free?

ball-and-chain

When we get off track, we can lose control. We can even lose ourselves if we stray too far. Sin can be a prison if we get too deep and forget to let God lead us, but the good news is: We can always turn back to God. If there is anything that is keeping you shackled to a bad decision (or decisions) and you feel utterly trapped, don’t lose hope. Do not waste another day allowing sin to control your life. God sees potential in all of us to be integral parts of His ministry. Step out in faith and allow God to set you onto a path of love, prosperity, hope, and joy. Whether the trials we go through are self-inflicted or not, there is no trial that last forever. God will redirect our path so we can escape and, while we are being tested, our faith will…

How Much Can You Carry?

Hope Seekers - Seeking God's Hope in All Things

strength

It is amazing to think that an ant can lift an astounding 50 times its own body weight. God truly created everything on the earth with the specific set of abilities they need to live. Ants need to be able to lift and carry heavy items in order to survive. While human beings may not need to lift, for example, an entire school bus for survival, God has provided us with the physical, emotional, and spiritual strength that is necessary in order to survive. God provides the strength we need to deal with the struggles and obstacles that arise in our lives. He has given us the strength to persevere, even when the problem seems too difficult to solve.

Why is Fellowship Important?

Hope Seekers - Seeking God's Hope in All Things

We all have friends, new and old, who satisfy different needs in our lives. Some friends are great for advise, some are the life of the party, some keep us grounded. We all serve a purpose in our friends’ lives. When it comes to establishing friendships, God wants us to remember to also establish friendships with other believers. Being a Christian can be complicated at times, and we can find comfort and encouragement through fellowship with other believers.

1 Thessalonians 5:11: “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”

As Christian brothers and sisters, we should make an effort to surround ourselves with like-minded people who understand the trials we, as Christians, experience. We understand what it means to fight temptation and sin. We understand that, even though life may seem to be crumbling around us, we don’t have to be afraid because we…
